It’s time for our next “Meet the Team” blog! We caught up with Marketing Strategist, Dylan Connors. When he isn’t helping advisors with their marketing strategies, he is training to be an officer in the Army! Talk about the ability to multitask. To learn more about Dylan, be sure to check out our latest blog.

To kick things off, where are you from, and where do you live now?

I was born in Beverly Hills, CA and lived in Los Angeles for about 11 years. I then moved to New York where I lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I currently live right outside of NYC in Jersey City, NJ.

As a Marketing Strategist, you work with customers to ensure they can develop and execute marketing strategies to get the most out of their FMG products and services. What would you say is your favorite part about this role?

My favorite part has to be meeting advisors who are located in all different parts of the country. Being able to meet with an advisor in Minnesota and an advisor in Maine an hour later is something my job position offers that many others do not.

In addition to working for FMG, you serve in the US Army. Thank you for your service! What has been the biggest challenge when balancing these two things? Is there any unexpected overlap, and what is the most rewarding part?

I wouldn’t say there have been any major challenges with the two overlappings. I work with an amazing team who was able to support me while I was away for a month in Kentucky for training this past summer. I think the most rewarding part is the fact the jobs are polar opposites so to me, being able to do both effectively is very rewarding.

What does a “typical” workday look like for you? Even if tasks change daily, we’d love to hear more about your day-to-day responsibilities and activities.

My days start early. Typically I wake up around 4:30-5:00 am to get my first workout of the day in. I recently started training in Crossfit and love it. Once 8:00 am comes around it’s time for work which I do until 5:30 pm. Right when work ends I get a second workout, which I will typically do in my building’s gym. I’ll quickly eat dinner and then have night class as I am finishing my degree at Baruch College in New York City.

Can you give us some more info on how you came to work at FMG, especially with your unique background of serving in the armed forces?

I have always wanted to work in marketing even while being in the Army. FMG gave me the opportunity to work a full-time marketing job while still training to be an officer in the Army. I am very grateful for the opportunity.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Skirt steak and air-fried potatoes. I have this about 4-5 times a week. Never gets old.

We’re big sports fans at FMG. Do you have a favorite sport you like to watch or play? If so, what team(s) do you cheer for?

I am a die-hard Boston sports fan (tough living in the New York area). I try to watch every Red Sox game if I have the chance. Every Sunday I watch the Patriots play and now the Celtics and Bruins are back so I’m looking forward to seeing my teams back in the playoffs.

If you had a free plane ticket and could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Dubai. It’s a dream of mine to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa.

What is some of the best advice you have ever received?

“It pays to be a winner” is a quote commonly used in the military that I have always loved and used as motivation.
